COLLECTION OF CHILDREN

3rd Sep 2020

As you are aware, we are trying to make the collection arrangements as smooth as possible. Our main aims are to ensure the safe adult to adult handover of all children and to avoid crowds of parents gathering together in a small area, less than 2m away from eachother.

We experienced difficulties during the 12 noon collection of children in Ranganna 2&3 today and as a result, have received a number of complaints this evening.

We want to avoid having to extend the staggered collection times for future weeks, but need to be able to rely on all parents following the guidelines below every day:

Please park your car in the school car-park / in a single space on the school lane / in the hurling club car-park. At the request of the hurling club, please do not park on the hurling club kerbs.

If you are parked in the school car-park, please step out of your vehicle and stand at your own car - not in a crowd around the fence or gates.

If you are parked beyond the school car-park, please walk down to the green gates beside the green storage unit and try to maintain a 2m social distance from others.

A member of staff will bring your child straight to you, as quickly as we can.   Please take your child by the hand and lead them to your vehicle.

Please get your child strapped into the car and sit for a short few minutes until all children have been safely delivered - we know people are in a hurry, but we do not want cars driving out whilst children are still walking to other vehicles.

When all children are safely in their cars, parents can drive out safely and things will run much more smoothly. Children should hold their parent's / guardian's hand at all times until safely in their vehicle.

Children are not permitted to run around on the raised ground at the side of the pitch at home time. I will be speaking to all classes about this tomorrow.

Parents are respectfully asked not to stand around chatting at home time. Please collect your child and proceed straight to your car, so that we can clear the area swiftly and safely. My biggest fear is that a child would be knocked down whilst parents are standing chatting and children are not being supervised.

Please also keep younger siblings in the car, to lessen the amount of children in the car-park.

We have had a number of complaints this evening from people who are not comfortable with standing in a crowd of people where they cannot socially distance themselves from others. Please help us to make the collection process run smoothly tomorrow.

Your help, support, patience and co-operation is greatly appreciated.

Go raibh maith agaibh,

Móna
